Very useful discussion with L. Bayan Altai concerning Canada Mongolia business relations. One of the key issues is obtaining visas to bring Mongolian business people to Canada. Japan processes at their Embassy in five business days visas, for Canada documents must be sent to Hong Kong to be processed & this can take weeks or months. Canadians can enter Mongolia visa free for 30 days. The system is both laborious as well as counter- productive given the timeframe involved. Action is required to streamline the process as others countries have done. Having a Comprehensive Partnership Agreement is one thing, allow for business to be promoted is another.
